When I first moved to Vallejo, I experienced the city's challenges firsthand. Crime, personal loss, and the struggles of settling into a new community could have deterred many. However, I chose to turn these experiences into opportunities for growth and community development. My passion for public service has since become a cornerstone of my life, driving me to make a significant impact in various areas of the community.
As an AMBASSADOR for the Library Foundation, Naval Museum, Community Gardens, and Sister Cities, my influence is far-reaching. My role as a Board Member of the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) highlights my dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion. Additionally, as a local business owner in Vallejo, I understand the importance of economic growth and the support of small businesses.
My involvement in the People’s Garden on Mare Island is a testament to my belief in the power of community spaces. This beautiful garden, which started with an ever-growing compost pile, has become a symbol of hope and unity in Vallejo. My efforts in the garden have not only provided fresh produce for the community but have also created a place where people can come together, share ideas, and build a sense of belonging.
Participatory Budgeting (PB) has been a significant turning point in my life. My enthusiasm for PB is evident as I describe it as a life-changing experience. My involvement in this initiative has allowed me to empower the community by giving them a voice in how public funds are allocated. This process of civic engagement has made a tangible difference in Vallejo, fostering accountability and responsibility among elected officials.
I envision a future where children from middle and high schools actively participate in public meetings, reminding city officials of the importance of their decisions for future generations. My dedication to this cause is evident in my frequent engagements with schools and youth groups, promoting civic responsibility from a young age.
I am involved in strategic partnerships in the InfoTech, Maritime, and Wine industries, aiming to bring innovative solutions to Vallejo. Environmental and cultural project development is also close to my heart, as I work to promote sustainability and preserve the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Speaking to groups, networking, and resource sharing are some of my personal activities that highlight my commitment to community building. I actively participate in public forums, chamber mixers, art walks, and farmers markets, always advocating for accountability and shared resources. I am also known for sharing uplifting and positive stories in local news and on social media, promoting the talents and resources of Solano County.
